Erdemir Logistics started its operations in 2005, to benefit the advantages of centrally
coordinating the Erdemir Group Companies' logistic requirements.
Erdemir Logistics has undertaken the task of coordinating all the sea transportation needs of
Erdemir and Isdemir. In this respect, the coal, iron ore, ferroalloys, semifinished goods and scrap used in Erdemir
have been provided from abroad. Isdemir and Erdemir requires these raw materials to be transported. As a result,
approximately 70% of their transportation is done by the seaway. Therefore, Erdemir Logistics organizes auctions among
seaway transportation companies. Right after the tender process, Erdemir Logistics regulates the import of
raw materials from countries including Brasil, Australia, China, Iran, USA, Norway, Canada, Russia and Ukraine.
Erdemir Logistics manages the Train Ferry activities which work between Zonguldak Port and
Eregli Port. By this activity, the company has been implementing the transportation of bulk freight
from Zonguldak to Eregli.
The geography between Zonguldak and Eregli is not suitable for the construction of railroad.
Consequently, the company has made a decision to move the trains by the help of a "rail ferry" system that operates
between Zonguldak and Eregli Port. The Train Ferry, operating between the ports of Kdz. Eregli and
Zonguldak, connects the national railway network to Kdz. Eregli Port, and enabled Erdemir
to discharge and transport shipment of Kardemir.
In the year 2006, our company coordinated the transportation of; the 4 million metric tons of Erdemir cargoes
by the means of 148 vessels and 2.3 million m. tons of Isdemir cargoes by the means of 36 vessels.
In other words, 6.3 million m. tons of cargoes were transported to Erdemir and Isdemir Ports from
domestic and foreign ports.
The amount of cargoes which have been transported between Zonguldak and Eregli Ports
by the train ferry were 800.000 metric tons.
Our company coordinated the transportation of the total of 7.1 million m. tons of cargoes in the year 2006.
